Global (MIX) proxy

To configure a proxy on your MikroTik router, you need the Winbox software. The following steps must be done in the application: Open the "IP"-"WebProxy" sections. Check the box next to "Enabled". Enter the parameters of the proxy-server.

After that you have to specify the data of the proxy in the browser to be used. As an example, let's take Google Chrome. What you need to do:

Open the browser.
Click on the icon "?" in the upper right corner.
Go to "Settings".
Select the "Advanced" option.
Click the "System" tab.
Click on "Open proxy settings for your computer".
Click on "Network settings".
Activate the "Use proxy server" option.
In the tab that opens, specify the IP address of the proxy server. You should enter it in the field of the protocol to which the proxy server belongs.
Click the "OK" button to save your settings.

Launch the Skype application and open the context menu "Tools". Through the "Advanced" tab, go to "Connection" to open the "Change settings" tab. If your proxy gives you a 504 error, it means the server failed to complete the request within the time period you specified. Refreshing the page may help. Open the "Settings" application via "Start" and go to "Network and Internet". Here, in the "Proxy" section, find the "Manual Proxy Configuration" column. Move the slider to "On" and carefully enter the IP address and port of the proxy, then click "Save".

In the settings bar (home screen), select "Network Settings" and then click on Ethernet. Here you should select the "Advanced Settings" option, which contains the "Proxy Server Settings" item. To further configure the proxy, select "Configure Manually", type in the proxy hostname and specify the port. Do not forget to list the domains that the proxy server should not use. You should leave this field empty if it does not exist. If the configuration process is successful, you will see the "Settings saved" notification.
