What are datacenter proxies, and where do the IPs come from?

Datacenter proxies are IP addresses from ranges registered to data centers and hosting providers. Your traffic runs through rack-mounted server infrastructure rather than end-user devices. The route is typically more direct, the connection doesn't depend on someone else's Wi-Fi, and the IP doesn't change when an end user restarts their router. That makes datacenter proxies fast, predictable, and typically less expensive per IP than other proxy types. The pool itself is large and drawn from our own ranges — 100,000+ IPv4 in stock — so a fresh list is assembled from it the moment you order.

The tradeoff is that the IP's origin is visible. IP databases tag datacenter ranges, and sites that filter hard by network type treat them with suspicion. So cheap datacenter proxies are worth buying for use cases where speed and scale matter most — and for targets where the IP needs residential-level trust, we have ISP proxies. The right type for the job beats any "universal" one.

Meet PapaProxy.net

A bulk IPv4 proxy service built by engineers, not marketers.

PapaProxy.net was founded in 2019 by an engineer who needed reliable bulk proxies at a reasonable price. That shaped our core principle: invest in technology and infrastructure rather than advertising, and pass the savings on to customers.

We use our own hardware and automation instead of rented servers and manual processes. That's how we keep prices below market without sacrificing stability. Real people handle support tickets and live chat, and most payment methods require no KYC.

The service attracts by its quality proxies and friendly attitude from the support team.

MN Martin Nadel November 2024

Very friendly team, able to qualitatively help users with any difficulties related to proxies. If you need great proxy deals, I recommend them. Don't hesitate.

SS Steven Strait February 2026

The proxy is good, works for a long time, their accounts are not banned. They offer a free support team that enables them to offer their services in real time and makes them available quickly and easily.

RG Robert Goldman November 2025

I can't get to the site in any way. Functionality is fine, prices and quality of proxies too. All cool, thanks!

Frequently asked questions

How does a website know that I'm using a datacenter IP before I even send a request?

From databases, not from your behavior. Datacenter ranges are publicly registered, and IP databases like MaxMind or IPinfo tag them as hosting; the IP is classified that way because of its origin, and anti-fraud platforms check that classification as soon as a request arrives — in milliseconds.

You can't "mask" the type of an address — you can only pick the right type for the target. If a site filters by network type, use ISP proxies; if it filters by behavior (and most do), datacenter proxies plus disciplined pacing get the job done at a lower cost.

Reviews say datacenter proxies have a 40–60% success rate. Is that true?

That's true for a narrow class of targets, but marketing has stretched the claim to cover the entire internet. That figure comes from benchmarks on "highly protected domains" — social networks, sneaker sites, top-tier anti-bot systems — and it's repeated by residential proxy providers, who bill per gigabyte.

On ordinary targets the picture is different: in our own test across 2,000 e-commerce and content domains outside the top protection tier (June 2026, US and EU locations, one request every 2–3 seconds per address), IPs from our packages achieved a 97–99% success rate. The rule is simple: assess the target site first, then choose the proxy type — not the other way around.

Residential proxies are harder to detect. Why not just buy those?

Because you'd be paying for trust most jobs don't need. You pay for that trust in three ways: cost, speed, and stability. Cost: residential traffic is billed per gigabyte, and at scraping volumes the bill grows with every page. Speed: a residential node is someone's home device, and the connection is only as stable as the end user's network. Stability: nodes frequently go offline and sessions drop — which is exactly why residential proxies are mostly sold as rotating rather than static, since constant address changes mask the instability of the nodes themselves.

A datacenter address is server infrastructure with a dedicated network connection; it remains stable without constant rotation. Residential proxies are justified where the target filters hard by network type; everything else is datacenter territory, and far cheaper with unlimited bandwidth.

Why is a per-IP package better than per-gigabyte pricing?

Predictable bills at volume. A package is a fixed price — 3,000 addresses for $229 a month, transfer as much data as you need: with unlimited datacenter proxies, your data usage is unlimited; only the number of concurrent connections is determined by your plan. The per-GB model works the opposite way: the better your scraping runs, the bigger the bill.

And watch the asterisk on some large providers' "unlimited": past a traffic threshold per address, they start cutting the number of connections — by an order of magnitude. Our connection limit is set by the plan and doesn't move with the volume you've pushed: whether you transfer a gigabyte or a terabyte, the concurrent-connection limit stays the same. Not sure — configure a 48-hour trial and run your real workload through it before committing to a standard term.

Datacenter, "data center," hosting — different categories or the same thing?

They refer to the same proxy type; the terminology varies by context. English reviews say datacenter proxies, IP databases say hosting, some catalogs write it as two words — data center proxies. All of these terms describe an IP from a range registered to a data center or hosting provider.

Compare the terms that matter instead — price per IP, the billing model, and the replacement rules.
