In simple terms, it is a logically separated part of the main local or public network. It is through it that many users can use a proxy through a single server at the same time. Each connection is allocated to a separate subnet.

The easiest option is to use ready-made online proxy checkers. For example, Hidemy.name, which shows the type of protocol used. Or you can simply run Speedtest - this will show you the bandwidth and response speed (ping).

Disable proxy settings in Windows:

Press the Windows key + R to open the Run dialog.

Type "inetcpl.cpl" (without quotes) and press Enter to open the Internet Properties window.

In the Internet Properties window, click on the "Connections" tab.

Click on "Lan settings" in the bottom right corner of the window.

In the "Proxy Server" section, select "Automatically detect settings" and uncheck the box for "Use a proxy server for your LAN."

Click "OK" to save the changes and close the window.

Both on a PC and on modern cell phones, a built-in utility that is responsible for working with network connections, provides the ability to set up a connection through a proxy server. You just need to enter the IP-address for connection and the port number. In the future all traffic will be redirected through this proxy. Accordingly, the provider will not block it.

It's a router that redirects all traffic through a VPN server. Many router models support this function, you only need to specify the data for connecting to a particular VPN (that is, enter the parameters that will provide a VPN service). And some manufacturers provide such routers, in which all settings are already prescribed (the developers themselves provide a VPN-service or are representatives of such).
