Tmall is Alibaba’s premium B2C marketplace — the home of official brand flagship stores (旗舰店), the badge Chinese shoppers trust for authenticity — and it’s built for mainland buyers. Approach tmall.com from a foreign address and the platform geo-blocks or degrades you: trimmed listings, hidden domestic pricing, promotions that never render. The full picture a brand actually needs to monitor — live and promo prices on its own flagship SKUs, competitor assortment and campaign timing, the third-party sellers listing its products — is only served to visitors who look domestic. A mainland Chinese IP isn’t a nicety here; it’s the difference between the real storefront and a deliberately thinned export view.

Does one pool cover both Tmall and Tmall Global?

Treat them as two targets. Domestic Tmall (tmall.com) is the mainland B2C marketplace for brands with a Chinese entity, served to mainland shoppers — it needs mainland IPs, which is what this pool provides. Tmall Global (tmall.hk) is the cross-border channel for overseas brands shipping from bonded or overseas warehouses, and it presents different listings, pricing in a cross-border context, and its own access behavior. If your brand-protection or pricing work spans both, plan for both explicitly rather than assuming a single mainland pool renders the cross-border storefront correctly. When in doubt, test the exact domain you need against a sample address before scaling.

Can I use this to monitor gray-market sellers of my brand?

That’s one of the strongest use cases for a mainland pool. Tmall flags official flagship and authorized stores distinctly, which makes it the best China vantage for brand-protection work: verifying that authorized sellers hold your minimum advertised price, spotting parallel importers and unauthorized resellers, and tracking suspicious pricing that signals counterfeits.
