There are special tools developed to check if a proxy is working. There are a large number of appropriate services and programs on the Internet. Any software that works in a general way should be excluded from their number. To use online checkers to check the quality and validity of a proxy, just specify your IP address and port number in the fields provided.

VPN is considered a more advanced technology for anonymization on the Internet. The main (but not the only) difference between VPN is the encryption of all traffic. But this decreases the connection speed and also increases the response time of the remote server. A proxy works slightly faster in this respect.

Scraping Razor pages in a separate AppDomain in C# is an advanced scenario, and it's not a common approach. It means that now all the traffic is sent to a VPN server (which can be an ordinary proxy). This is a kind of warning that the remote server can now collect data. Therefore, you should use only well-tested VPN services.
